Home buying season? Get your home ready
If you are planning to sell your home soon, spring is the perfect season to do it. The market is saturated with buyers eager to get the perfect home, so sellers can pick a higher asking price and expect quicker offers. That means right now is the time to get your home ready to sell.
Home repair projects
You might need to fix your home up before selling it. If there is anything too detrimental that a buyer will ask you to do before closing anyway, you might as well do it now. For example, it will be a lot easier to sell your home if you replace or repair a damaged roof. One thing you can do is get an inspection yourself before the sale to see if there is anything that comes up that needs to get fixed. Even if you don’t get it fixed ahead of time, it’s good to know the problems before a sale falls through later.
Even if you don’t necessarily need things fixed up, you might want to consider some remodeling projects. For example, many sellers focus on simple, inexpensive changes that improve the home value. Painting a neutral color over your crazy colors in a room or pulling down old, ugly wallpaper to replace it with some paint are just a couple of the things you can do.
Focus on bathrooms and kitchens. The old saying goes that buyers buy kitchens and bathrooms, not houses. If they like and feel comfortable in those rooms, you are in. Update flooring, paint cabinets, and add hardware. Make sure you do a good job though or it could end up hurting your home value even more. Small and simple changes can make a big difference.
Staging your home
Another thing you need to do is prepare your home for buyers to see it. Buyers want to be able to see themselves in your space, so you should remove all personal photos from your space. Also, take anything you don’t need in your home and put it in storage to give a very minimalist look to your space. Some people even pay to have a professional come into their home and stage it, so it will look nicer for buyers.
You will also want to pay a photographer to come in and take nice photos. People won’t even come look at your house if the pictures make it look like a mess, so it is a good idea to have someone help you get it looking nice and have someone take pictures from the right angles.
How to pay for it
If you are worried about how to pay for everything you need done on your house before you can sell it, you can get a personal loan. It is easy to apply for since you can apply online and get the loan funded as early as the next business day. You can borrow a large amount of money and then pay it back on monthly payments until you sell the home. After the home sale has been funded, you can pay off the loan right away to avoid added interest costs. Plus, it is often cheaper than putting those costs on a credit card since the interest rate is lower.
